REGULATED DESIGN
& COMPLIANCE

Façade remediation is not new construction—but it's no longer the wild west, either.

This space sits in a middle ground: not quite new build, but bound by an evolving network of standards, licensing, and legal obligations. With growing scrutiny on buildings across NSW and the ACT—driven by decades of under-regulation and inconsistent construction—owners, managers, and strata committees are now under pressure to fix problems that were never theirs to begin with.

For some, it’s business owners juggling building issues with daily operations. For others, it’s working residents navigating skyrocketing sinking fund levies and insurance premiums. This isn’t just about compliance; it’s about clarity, timing, and trust.

That’s where we come in.

Why CPR?

With over 30 years in the industry, CPR offers façade remediation that not only meets modern standards, but also makes sense. We stay informed on updates to legislation, act with professional integrity, and deploy licensed trade professionals (not just rope access technicians) to do the work right.

We ensure:

Compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards.

Work delivered by qualified tradespeople, trained in both remedial methods and safe access.

Full coverage under all relevant insurances—for client, public, property, and materials.

Transparent, aligned reporting and QA systems that feed into long-term maintenance plans

What It Means for You

THE DBP ACT

The Design and Building Practitioners Act (2020) introduced new requirements for remedial works including waterproofing, cladding replacement, and structural repairs.

These works now require:

A registered Design Practitioner to inspect, document, and sign off on the design.

A registered Building Practitioner to oversee, execute, and certify the physical remediation.

As a registered Builder and Building Practitioner, we work with a trusted network of registered Design Practitioners to complete every step from concept to completion. We don’t handball responsibility or leave you coordinating multiple parties.

With CPR, it’s one point of contact, and one accountable team to streamline the initial design and planning process, and later the execution of trade teams to minimise the impact to occupants in live environments.

Cladding
Projects
& Project
Remediation

We understand the frustrations around schemes like ‘Project Remediate’, designed to support the removal of flammable cladding for eligible class 2 residential apartment buildings. Rather, we have seen unclear timelines, mounting costs, and too many hands on the job. While labelled “interest-free,” many owners find themselves stalled, unsure who to trust.

At CPR, we provide:

Clear assessment and quantification

Trial panel replacement alongside a Design Practitioner

Planning, approvals, and execution

Certification and final reporting

We move with clarity and urgency—so the job doesn’t linger for years.

While CPR are happy to provide consultancy and advice, we also encourage strata communities to rely on trusted sources of information from the Owners Corporation Network and Strata Plus, both of whom we proudly support and sponsor for their efforts in simplifying reform and cutting through the noise.

Heritage Maintenance & Considerate Construction

Managing a heritage-listed building is no small task but the rewards are worth it.
With the right approach, you can access:

The City of Sydney's Heritage Floor Space Scheme

NSW Heritage Grants

Potential Council rate or land tax reductions

Preserving our built history doesn’t just maintain aesthetic value, it retains structural integrity, supports adaptive reuse, and builds long-term capital value for owners and investors.

CPR’s Building Lifecycle Model fits perfectly with this mindset. We support Building Managers and Owners through:

Emergency make-safe support

Planned and corrective maintenance

QA-backed documentation for long-term heritage maintenance planning

Lightweight, non-invasive access solutions

Heritage-compliant inspections and reporting

Our patented SkyPod® and rope access systems are designed for considerate construction—meaning we can return to the site for future works quickly, cleanly, and with minimal disruption.

FAQs

What is the difference between a builder and a building practitioner?

Under the DBP Act, a building practitioner includes a range of professionals involved in various stages of the building process, such as architects, engineers, and designers. Unlike builders, these practitioners often focus on planning, design, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

Do I need to work with registered Design and Building Practitioners?

Yes, in many cases—especially for remedial works involving waterproofing, cladding replacement, or structural repair on class 2, 3, and 9c buildings.

What is the role of a building practitioner?

Registered building practitioners are responsible for lodging regulated designs and design compliance declarations on the NSW Planning Portal.

If I live in a residential apartment building, what type of building class is it?

Most residential apartment buildings in Australia fall under Class 2 of the National Construction Code.

Avoid the risks of non-compliance.
